Our first morning of 2019 looked like this:
It was so beautiful! We couldn't believe it was January 1st! It was fun seeing the Grand Cayman Island slowly come into view. The cruise ship couldn't dock at a pier like in other ports, so we had to be tendered from the ship to the docks in George Town.
When we got there, we were greeted by this pirate:
(Fun fact: You'll see him in the next stop as a sailor).
And this awesome local:
We took a catamaran sail out to Sting Ray City, once again marveling at the warmth and basking in the sun.
On the ride over, our guide taught us how to hold a stingray. It involved holding food in your fist like this and letting the stingray suck it up out of your hand. The worst part was digging into the bucket and picking out a piece of octopus...so so gross!
After our excursion, we found a restaurant and tried some Caribbean cuisine. We were going to be returning to the ship and all that food so we decided to share one meal. I was surprised that Brian was willing to try some Jamaican jerked ribs. They were spicy, but so so good!
We did a little shopping and bonded with the local residents:
After waiting in a huge, long line for our turn to be tendered back to the ship, we got dinner
