November 2018 Part 1: Hogwarts Night at the Elementary School

The elementary school in our neighborhood puts on a "Hogwarts Night" every year. They even have school activities and class competitions in the many weeks leading up to it. They put each grade into different houses and have a house cup. The whole school gets decorated. This event was the catalyst for Michael reading the entire Harry Potter series twice in a year a couple of years ago. Since Rachel was in Kindergarten there this year, we still got to go, even though Michael is at a different school now. This year, Shayne, Danny, and Skyler joined us for our night at Hogwarts. 

This year at Hogwarts, they brought in real owls:

 And a snake or two:

 And other magical creatures.

 And the mystical Jack-o-lantern:

 They did science experiments, like what happens to a fruit loop or a marshmallow when you put it in dry ice. This is the kids waiting for the marshmallow or fruit loop:

 They taught about the magic of magnets.

 Shayne even had fun with the magnets.

 There was Wizard's Chess and regular Chess, which Gabe obviously rocked at ;)

They always have magical shops, Butterbeer, and other fun things. We, of course, always have to trade in our muggle money for galleons.  And they had a big "Magic" demonstration (science show). It was a ton of fun, and we were glad to be a part of it. And it was really nice that it wasn't in October this year!
