In October, Michael finished the shelves we built for him. They turned out really well, and we're both very pleased.
Gracie dreamed of having opposable thumbs so she could actually use the remote.
Rachel and I tested out our costumes and wigs.
Rachel had her first orchestra concert, and we were absolutely stunned by how good they sounded. We expected way more squeaking, and there was hardly any.
Nana and Papa were also impressed, so it wasn't just us. Rachel did so good!
Brian and I decided to get a pegboard to organize the shed. The plan was to have home depot cut it for us, but when we got there, the saw was not working. We got the piece into the van, but I wasn't able to ride in my seat, and all the other seats were unavailable either, so I laid down in the back the whole way home.
We worked on the shed while listening to General Conference on Saturday. I was impressed with Gabe watching most of it even though we weren't in the house with him nor were we insisting he watch (we save that for Sunday sessions). He was really impressed with Elder Brown's talk, and he even turned that particular talk on 2 months later to listen to it again.
We saw our first bits of snow for the season, which was fun. I love the mountains when they are kissed with snow.
Brian and Gabe played Battleship--the Pirates of the Caribbean version.

It was really good to have general conference after the tragedy the week before, and we all mourned the loss of President Nelson together.
Gabe and Rachel played Guess Who, and other games we didn't take pictures of.
I tried working on my art while Rachel was in her MDT class at the Ruth. She also auditioned for Elf, Jr. and made it into the ensemble, so we spent a lot of time driving her to the theater.
Gabe wasn't excited to do Addams family for Halloween, so I also got him a Stitch costume.
Gabe really got into having a tied-tie, not those pretied ties. Brian taught him how.
I think the snow in the mountains and the fall colors in the valley is one of the most beautiful sights.
Michael made so many bowls. We're going to have to figure out how to display all these bowls!
We had some warm days amongst the snow, and Gabe took advantage of the sunshine to read outside. This boy loves to read!
I continued my quest to take a stellar photo of a magpie. I really love magpies, even if most people find their call annoying.
Gracie looks good in any season.
I went on a field trip with Gabe's class to the Bean Museum at BYU. I brought my earbuds to help cancel out the noise on the bus, and I wished I'd had a dollar for every time I heard "6-7" because I would have been able to get a super nice lunch!
Brian found a dryer sheet in his clothes at work. Classic!
Rachel and I were excited to bust out our Haunter Mansion pullovers.
We decided to take our Halloween family pictures the Saturday before Halloween since there was a playoff football game for Lone Peak on actual Halloween. It made things so much less stressful on actual Halloween that I think we might do it this way from now on. Michael took the opportunity to try out Rachel's wig.
Rachel caught some kind of bug. She caught some kind of bug or got food poisoning and was throwing up so much. It happened Saturday night and into Sunday. I had volunteered on Friday to speak in church a day and a half later on Sunday the 26th, so I didn't have much of a chance to prepare my talk in between everything I was doing on Saturday. On Saturday night, I typed up a few thoughts. I had an early morning meeting for my stake calling the next morning, and I planned to finalize my thoughts in the two hours between that meeting and my 10:30 sacrament meeting, but when I got home, I found Rachel lying on the floor in the bathroom, too weak to make it back to her room after her bath. I helped her get dressed, cleaned up her vomit bowl, brushed out her hair and put it up high so it didn't make her cold, and got some chicken noodle soup in the crockpot for later. I wasn't sure what to do about Church; Brian and I both needed to be there.
Turned out that Michael had a bit of a cold, so as soon as I found that out, I told him, "You need to take care of your sister while we go to church!" He agreed, and we went to church without two of our kids. Thankfully, she finally felt better the next day, but it is so sad to see my kids so helplessly sick.
My talk miraculously worked out, don't worry.

Michael had his annual eye exam and opted to get new glasses again. He doesn't wear them often, but he does bust them out occasionally.
