Towards the beginning of November, Brian and I decided we should take advantage of the dry, warm weather to put up our yard Christmas lights. I say yard Christmas lights because we hire a company to hang the lights on our house, and they had come in September. We busted out our lights and wrapped them around the front corner pine trees and then decorated the three biggest trees with ribbon and giant ornaments. Then, we got to work lighting up a few other trees. Brian basically handled the biggest one on his own, and this just so happens to be the only photo we have of our efforts in lighting up our neighborhood.
While we were out and about, Brian decided to re-caulk the shed. When we were working on organizing it at the beginning of October, it was pouring rain, and we realized that there was a leak somewhere. Brian found the leak then, and finally got around to fixing it this same day. Here's our front trees, all lit up. You can't see one other tree and a bush that also got some lights, but again, it's the photo that we have.
A week later, we decided we should take advantage of the warm weather because surely snow would come anytime and rake some leaves. We decided to recreate this picture with Michael from 2011.
After only a few inquisition type questions, he agreed to the photo. We didn't have it in font of us, so we couldn't get it exactly right, but it's close enough.
We tried to get Gabe to come jump in the leaves. He needed some convincing.
It took a few tries and some heavy encouragement from us for him to commit.
Instead of throwing leaves on our kids this year (like we did here in 2011),

we discovered that Gracie enjoys playing in the leaves.
We had a lot of fun throwing the leaves up for her. Eventually, we had to bag it all up, and we tried out various techniques, including using the leaf blower.
Rachel was gone somewhere, possibly at a rehearsal? I honestly can't remember.
Michael fixed our broken handled rake by trimming the replacement handle down to fit. That broken rake has been out there for years!
It was a beautiful day, and it felt nice to do a little work in the yard. And we realized we should probably do it more because our boys wondered why we were doing it.
