September 2021 Part 4: Brian's Birthday

Brian turned 30 something in September, and we took full advantage! We went to brunch together (yay for all the kids being in school) at The Original Pancake House.
And we had date night at Olive Garden because it's Brian's favorite.

On his actual birthday, there were cute notes and balloons from the kids.

Including this amazing present from Michael--a folded up picture of himself.

I got him some cool things.

And we went to Teppanyaki  for dinner and a show. I think it was homecoming for one or more of the high schools. We were originally planning to go to Texas Roadhouse, but the wait to get in was insanely long. Teppanyaki was shorter, but we still needed to wait an hour, so we went and got ice cream at Cold Stone BEFORE dinner.

The fire torches made Rachel a little nervous. She said something like, "Oh my goodness. Are they sure that is safe?"

We also celebrated with family the next day with Rainbow Chip cake and ice cream.

Gabe read an Elephant and Piggie book with Papa, and it was so fun to hear. Gabe loves reading.

And yes, I made seat tags at the table because it just makes things easier.

I'm so glad that Brian was born. Seriously. I thought I loved him a lot on our wedding day, but each year it grows. I appreciate him more, I have more inside jokes, more tears together, more history, and our love just keeps growing. I'm often so blown away by him, by the fact that of all those girls hanging around him, he picked me. He keeps me laughing, he is an amazing provider, he puts up with all the projects I keep dreaming up (and even is excited about them most of the time).

18 years ago on Brian's birthday, I walked to the BYU Creamery with my roommates to buy him balloons to celebrate his life. I'd known him about four weeks at the time, and I had no idea that within five years, it would be my privilege to do so for the rest of my life. I'll always be grateful to be assigned as his FHE sister way back when we were freshmen at BYU.
