My sister Emily has been trying to get us to come and see her at her house for years. Brian's sister Alisa has also been trying to get us to come see her at her house for years. We've always had other things keeping us from doing it, but when Alisa told us she would be selling her house and moving to Georgia, we knew that we needed to make the trip, so we decided to spend our Fall Break road-tripping to Oregon. Michael was a little sick of trips after our Florida trip, Swim Camp, and Charleston. We tried to make it more exciting by having our kids help us find things to see along the way. Michael was still not thrilled about the whole thing, but once he resigned himself to lots of hours of driving, he was great.
Our first stop was at Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls. Unfortunately, due to the drought and the late season, it was barely a trickle.
The Snake River Canyon right there was still beautiful though.
Next, we made a short little drive to the Evel Knievel jump site. Back in 1974, Evel Knievel tried to jump the mile-wide section of the Snake River near Twin Falls. He used a specially engineered motorcycle rocket. His parachute opened on take off, so he wasn't able to successfully jump, but that didn't stop the fame of the jump or the site. Here's the ramp they built for the jump.

We had to go down a dirt road in the middle of farmland to get to the jump site, and across the field was the Twin Falls temple.
After grabbing some dinner, we went to Ethan and Erika's house. We got the grand tour of their house, and naturally the kids found Ethan's Gorilla costume.
When Michael was getting ready for bed, we realized that nobody packed his daily contacts. We called our neighbor, who thankfully was willing and able to get into our house, find the contacts, and overnight them to Alisa's house in Oregon. Brian and Michael headed to a store to pick up contact solution and a case to put his contacts in for the night so he could reuse them the next day.
The next morning, we went to breakfast with Ethan and Erika, and it was super good!
The restaurant was Abracadabra's, and this sign was funny.
We gave hugs, and I made Ethan take a photo with me.
And then we headed west again. We drove for hours, made it into Oregon, and then there were very few rest stops, so we had to pull over to the side to relieve ourselves...well, I think everyone did but me.
We did some stretching, and then hopped back in the car. We found a place to eat about 30 minutes from Alisa's house (which was a bit of an adventure with Covid rules and what not). We arrived at Alisa's well after dark, and thankfully found her house! The next morning, we woke up to the beauty that surrounded their house.
