Alisa had quite the itinerary for us. First up was a tour of the Bear Hotel. We started the tour seeing different artwork, and then they took us to this special area where the kids put a coin on the conveyer belt, turned a crank, and watched a bear pop out of the oven.
And they just got to keep those bears! It was really cool!
After everyone got their turn and received their bears, we started our tour of Southern Oregon, starting with Crater Lake.
Next we saw the Redwoods.
And the squirrel's surveillance area.
We went to the coast.
And got to do a little research.
Then we got to see all the bears. Apparently, these bears are a thing in Grant's Pass and stand on the corners throughout the Bear-fest, and then they pull them back in and store them here, thus why it's called the Bear Hotel.
Our tour guide was kind enough to get a group picture of all of us before we left.
And Alisa took one of our little family.
It was a really cool thing, and completely unexpected. Oh, and free. Did I mention that? Apparently the Bear Hotel is owned by a bank, and this is their way of showing appreciation to their customers.
After touring the Bear Hotel, we went downtown to one of the shops for old fashioned phosphates.
It was really fun and felt like we stepped back in time.
After the phosphates, we headed back to Alisa's house so the kids could play (and help color a pumpkin).
I taught the kids how to play "Kick the Can" while Brian helped Jared and Alisa with some wiring.
Then we got to have date night (and I love that Alisa made sure we had some adult time without kids). This gave us the opportunity to find out all about the big move coming up since they hadn't told their kids yet.
The next morning, we had a little downtime, and Rachel did Ella & Maiya's hair, and they did hers.
There was some dancing.
Then, we loaded up and headed to the Redwoods in Northern California.
