June 2021 Part 5: Family Fun

This summer, Alisa & Jared (along with their kids, of course) came for a visit, so even though we had gone the day before, we took everyone to the Butterfly Biosphere.  The older boys weren't as impressed with the lobby area, but they were still good sports about everything.

Once we all made it into the actual butterfly area, everyone was pretty happy.

Shayne was really excited to go. Apparently, he really likes butterflies.

Someday, I will get a butterfly to land on my back like they always do on Brian's.

Lara and Greg arrived the Friday that Lacey and her kids left, and they stayed at our house! Our kids were so excited to have cousins sleep over. Normally, we don't get to host Lara, but since Lea was hosting a friend and Alisa and Jared were at Nana & Papa's house, we got to host them! We even let them use our car, because we're the best hosts ever!

The next morning, we got up and went to the Lehi Roundup Parade. Thankfully, someone got us a spot--we're a big group!

And Alisa provided our kids with bags for candy, so that was pretty nice.

Having cousins is so much fun and so exhausting too!

The Utah Premier Brass did two Concerts in the Park this year, thanks to the pandemic, but we were so excited to have those two, even though we only made it to watch one. We had a bit of a picnic beforehand so we all could visit before the concert.

I feel like now is a good time to recognize just how amazing Rachel's hair is. I mean, I curled it a little bit, but I guarantee I spent no more than 10 minutes on it, She has really great hair.
The kids all participated in the Children's March with Papa.

At some point, Rachel lost her tulip charm that Brian bought for her in Amsterdam, so we recruited everyone to help us look for it. Unfortunately, we never found it.
The next day, I had an outpatient surgery. I came home and slept the rest of the day after I got back. Thankfully, Lara didn't seem to mind, but it meant that I was kind of out of commission for all the festivities the rest of the week. I missed out on going swimming with the family:
And another get-together somewhere in there at Lea's house. There was family there.
Apparently, these are the Smith cousins, but Brian can't name all of them. Sorry, posterity.

Lara was really helpful. She even took Gabe to pick out a birthday present and got him to his party one day while she was there. I think she even helped get Rachel to and/or from dance class.

Brian and Gabe handled laundry. The other kids probably helped too; I just don't have any evidence.

The kids entertained each other, and Lara took everyone to the pool.

We always love having family over, especially our girl cousins that are Rachel's age! We were also lucky this time to have another adventure with Lara's family, but that happened in July, so stay tuned.
