Thanksgiving 2019, if you recall, was the latest day that Thanksgiving could possibly be held: November 28. Since we were going to Idaho for Thanksgiving, this meant that when we came back home, it would basically be December. Now, I'm normally one to wait to put up the tree until AFTER Thanksgiving, but when we're out of town for Thanksgiving, we make exceptions, and 2019 was no different. We set up the tree before Thanksgiving, and before our trip. We split it up over a couple of days. I think Brian and I put the tree up and fluffed it one night, and then got the kids to help decorate the next night.
Before the ornaments went on, we needed to do the ceremonial wearing of the Christmas Tree Skirt:
I always chuckle when the tree gets decorated like this. I'll miss the bottom heavy days when they're gone.
I knew this year would be a tough one, so I wanted to do something special for my mom and my siblings. I have a lab that prints metal photo ornaments, and I make photo ornaments for my clients each year for Christmas, so I decided to do metal photo ornaments for my sibling and mom as well. I searched through pictures to find a photo of each sibling with my dad. I couldn't find one for Chelsea, so I ended up photoshopping one together using two pictures from her wedding so that it looked like we got a picture of just the two of them. We had a note that Dad had written to Michael for his baptism that had "I love you!" written on it. We made it digital, cleaned it up, and put his handwritten "I Love you!" over the picture. I gave them to them at Thanksgiving, but here's what mine looks like:
With our house all festive, we were ready to pack and head to Idaho for Thanksgiving.
