The Christmas Season started early with Rachel's dance studio's production of The Nutcracker in mid-November. This was our first year with the studio, and we weren't quite sure what to expect. The night was a little stressful getting Rachel ready (and making sure Brian was packed for his flight to California for a job interview with Facebook since he basically had to run to the airport as soon as the production was finished.). Thankfully, we all made it, Rachel's hair and make-up looked pretty good (we're finally getting better at it). Rachel and I went in our black car since she had to be there much earlier than everyone else. I put her lipstick on, snapped these pictures,
and sent her back to the dressing room.
The production was quite amazing. We were all just stunned with the quality of the work. Such a change from her last studio!!! I wanted to make sure I had the settings zeroed and that I had practice a little before she came on stage, so I took way too many shots of the other dancers. Here's a few of my favorites:
Finally, towards the end, they brought out the box of chocolates for Clara:
They got out of their little box and started to dance.
That girl is so alive on stage. She just lights the whole place up.
Brian booked it out the door as soon as the final curtain dropped, and I went to go collect her from the dressing room so we could take pictures in her costume.
McCallan came to the performance and acted as our errand boy to run across the street to the grocery store to pick out these flowers for her.
Isn't she so lucky to have a picture with both her grandmas?
Skyler and Lea were also there to watch, but I didn't have a picture of them. We left Gabe at home with a sitter.
We went home for bed and a good face washing, but before all the make-up came off, we needed one more picture of our sleepy dancer.
