Finally, all the preparations, anticipation, and excitement came to a head, and Christmas Eve arrived! Nana and Papa came to our house early to deliver their Christmas presents. The kids were not sad about that!

He was so excited! I think he put on his bed right after this picture was taken.

I made Grandma Linville's traditional pastry.
And we had Lea and Shayne's crew over for dinner...Prime rib! It was so good!
After dinner, we made gingerbread houses out of graham crackers. Lea supplied all the fun things. Her family is REALLY good at it.
Hunter was doing a deconstructive theme.
I convinced Brian to do a modern take.
After gingerbread, I got everyone to participate in a simple live nativity. Someone read "This is the Stable" by Cynthia Cotten, and each player went up when their character was read.
I wished we'd gotten a picture of the whole group up there, but this side shot will have to do.
After the live nativity, we talked about the symbols of Christmas, and Kirt read the Christmas story from Luke 2. This is my favorite part of Christmas Eve.
We opened our Christmas Eve jammies. This year, Brian and I landed on a tourist type t-shirt. We asked each kid what their favorite thing that we saw this year was. Gabe said the Hunley, Rachel said Harry Potter World, Michael said the Yorktown, I couldn't decide so mine was a Coast to Coast one, and Brian picked Expedition Everest from Animal Kingdom.
