October started out with some birthday fun! Michael and Brian's birthdays are exactly 2 weeks apart, so Kirt and Julie came in the middle of those birthdays for a soccer game and gave Brian and Michael their birthday gifts at the same time. Michael was pretty excited to get a present early.
Brian was excited to get a gift and a card from his parents, but mostly, as usual, he was just excited to see them.
This is the last picture of 10-year-old Michael.
We decided after Gabe's birthday that helium balloons is the way to go, so we picked up some for Michael's birthday and set them outside his door.
We also bought him a donut to eat for breakfast. This is it after he ate most of it. It might have been one of those Texas sized ones.
We let him open one of his presents on the way to school. Notice the toilet paper filler and the same bag we used on Brian's birthday and probably mine as well?
Books are always a good idea for this kid!
After school, we went to go pick up Danny so he could hang with us for a couple of hours before his basketball thing later that evening. That was one thing Michael really wanted for his birthday--to spend time with Danny. After we picked up Danny, we went home and Michael got to open more presents.
After dropping Danny off at his basketball thing, we went out to eat at Waffle Love.
They put a candle on his waffle.
Michael didn't want a cake for his birthday. Instead, he wanted our marble cookie bars. I got funky candles to make up for the lack of pizzazz on the sheet of cookie bars.
We finished the night off by watching home videos of Michael when he was younger.
This year, it was birthday date with Mom and Dad. Thanks to Covid, there wasn't a lot of options, so he opted to watch a movie or two with us at home. Shayne took Rachel and Gabe for the afternoon/evening, and we had Chick-fil-a and popcorn and watched some WWII movies.
The next day, we found a present that we'd forgotten about, so the gift receiving/giving kept on going. Notice the pink bag and toilet paper AGAIN?!
Michael had designed this logo a while back. I'd made him a t-shirt with it already, and I thought he'd love to have it on a rubber stamp. I was right.
We sure love our Michael. He is sweet, kind, generous, adventurous, passionate, stubborn, thoughtful, smart, and so so good. He's an amazing big brother, and we can't believe he's already been in our lives for over 11 years! Where has the time gone?
