Easter Part 1: Ogden Egg Dye and Hunt

Pretty much every year since Brian and I started dating back in 2008, we've done some kind of Easter Egg hunt with Chelsea and her kids. We've missed maybe 2 years, including last year, but it's a tradition we both love. This year, due to General Conference falling on the same weekend as Easter, we opted to have our egg hunt on Friday, which meant that Brian had to go to work (and that it was the first hunt I've done without him). This year, we invited Taryn's crew to join the fun. 

Although Taryn and Chelsea's kids had spring break the week of April 3, ours wasn't until the week after Easter, which meant that we didn't head to Ogden until after Michael got home from preschool at about 11:45. Brian and I had a hot date to the Traditions Ball that night, so our time was very limited. We jumped right into the festivities as soon as we arrived at Chelsea's house. 

First: Coloring eggs

 Then, the hunt. This year, Chelsea had the amazing idea to assign each kid a color. And instead of buying tiny, cheapo prizes that would fit inside, I made "Bunny Bucks" and put them inside so that the kids could buy prizes at the end. It made for a little extra prep, but we didn't force them to divide everything equally afterwards, so it was totally worth it. And we didn't need to give littles a head start.

Rachel was doing great until she realized that there was candy inside those eggs. Then she just wanted to eat it.

 This was Aaron's first egg hunt ever. I think he liked it.

 I'm not sure Heather liked it that much. We knew which ones were hers and we made it kind of hard for her. She got a little frustrated. She's used to this being a cake walk!

 Afterwards, the eggs were opened and sorted back to the original owners (Chelsea and I have quite the collection of plastic eggs now), and then we quickly did the store and I headed South--

just in time to hit rush hour, Holiday weekend traffic, General Conference traffic, Mission Reunion Traffic....More on this later. Still totally worth it.
