December 2023 Part 7: Idaho

On December 26, we headed to Idaho to celebrate my mom's birthday, so Michael and Brian could hit the slopes at Targhee with Cal, so I could hang with my mom for a day, and so we could leave our kids with my mom while we went on a cruise for our anniversary.

We met Mom and Taryn and David's family at Garcia's in Idaho Falls for her birthday dinner. The food was good, but I didn't take any pictures.

The next morning, bright an early, the boys headed for Grand Targhee resort. I'm jealous of their views, but I knew that they had to see them!

Meanwhile, back at my mom's...
I dropped the kids off at a hill nearby so they could go sledding.

The nice thing about kids having cell phones/watches? They called when they were cold so I didn't have to stay out in the cold with them.

Meanwhile at Targhee:

I love the Tetons!
I wasn't feeling super stellar, but it was good to talk to my mom.
The kids played games.
I feel like we took the tree down that morning.

On the 28th, Brian and I packed what we were taking to Florida, and then Taryn and my Mom took us to the Idaho Falls Airport. A little before we were supposed to leave, I discovered that the zipper on my one pair of jeans that I bought had broken, so we ran to the mall on the way to the airport so I could buy a new pair. Thankfully, the first pair I tried on fit really well, and we made it to the airport on time. The kids finished off the year hanging out with their Grandma and cousins (for a few days), and had a fun New Years' Eve Party--I think. They sent us a video to Rabbit Rabbit us on the first and were sweet about responding to our many Marco Polo videos on our trip. We're so grateful to my mom for taking such good care of them so we could go on our anniversary trip without worrying about them; we knew they were in great hands.
