February 2021 Part 2: Valentine's Day

 As we all know, February 14 is Valentine's Day, but February 13 is Gal-entine's Day. This year was smaller than past Galentine's Days, but these three ladies are the ones that have helped me with this whole pandemic mess more than any others besides my family. Our Marco Polo conversations keep me sane and connected, and I love these ladies so much! We went to the Original Pancake House for brunch after doing a little shopping at the Outlets. Brunch was fantastic and the company even more so. 

Brian and I went on a date on the evening of the 13th. I really wanted to do something a little special like go to a play, but while things are starting to open up a little bit, there are still not a lot of options. We ended up going to see the musical Anastasia at American Fork High School. They did a good job. The only complaints we had were some technical issues with mics not being loud enough. 

Sunday was Valentine's Day. I got Brian this sweet red tie. We took a few selfies of us in our Sunday best. We don't look like this every day, you know. We have document that we look good sometimes. 

Okay, Brian looks good all the time. 

Ben and Jenny were in town for the weekend (although they actually rented a cabin in the mountains near Ogden, so I guess they were only actually in the state.) We went to visit them on Sunday (aka Valentine's Day) and we brought Valentine's Day crepes! And balloons, candy, and a red tablecloth to make it more festive. Jenny really appreciated it. When it comes to holidays, we're both cut out of similar cloth. Even though Brian and I usually go on a special date for Valentine's Day, we usually don't actually go out on February 14. Instead, we usually make a pink themed dinner for our kids and make it about how much we love them. This year, we just expanded the event to include our nephews too. (And siblings and Ben & Jenny's friends from Texas who came with them to Ski.)

The kids really liked the sweet crepes. 

Brian let me pick out my own flowers this year, and I loved the opportunity. He really spoiled me on the allowance, and we had to invest in a larger vase to put it in. Thank goodness DI had a bunch! 

Rachel's dance company sponsored a Valentine's Day Ball, and Brian took Rachel to it. She finally got to wear her Halloween dress to dance! 

They had someone there teaching them a ballroom dance. 

They came home and gave us a demo, but I'm too lazy to upload the video for you. This picture will have to help you imagine it. 

Despite the pandemic, we had a FANTASTIC Valentine's Day--er week.
