February 2020 Part 2: Organizing

One of my design professors said that interior design is all about solving problems. I finally had a chance to solve the problems with my large linen closet and my laundry room at the beginning of February. First, the linen closet. 

The problems: 4 shelves that have a lot of space in between them. Lots of little things that need a home that we can get to (like toothpaste, contact solution, extra shampoo bottles, soap. 

I've attempted to tackle these issues over and over again, and some of them worked, but most didn't. I finally landed on buying a set of Alex drawers fir the bottom of the closet and using a cube shelf to divide up one of the shelves. 

Yes, thanks to Subscribe and Save, we are set on toothpaste for a WHILE! 

Next, the laundry room. Thanks to our cupboards, a lot of the laundry room was nice and organized, but we were always tripping over our vacuum, we needed a place to put clothes that kids grew out of in between their ultimate destination of another home. Also, I wanted it to look prettier so that I'd enjoy being in there more. Enter an open wardrobe and a dresser from IKEA. 

The rags and sponges fit in the top drawer. The middle drawer is now the home for extra bags and the kids' clothes folders, and the bottom drawer fits the vacuum!!!

CLEAN!!!

 These little changes made a HUGE difference! Yay for IKEA and all their storage products.
