In July, Brian and I baked alot together, especially on Sundays. We really just enjoy being together and making a yummy treat.
The kids like it too.
One of our Sunday baking projects was cake in a mug. Our new recipe book put together by the Young Women at Church had it in it, and we HAD to try it. It was pretty good.
I teach the 16-18 year-olds in Sunday School, and I try to bring them a little treat once a month to celebrate the birthdays for that month. One Sunday, we threw together these little fruit pizzas using cake-batter to make the cookie crust, and a caramel/cream cheese fruit dip as the sauce. They turned out quite deliciously.
Speaking of church, we switched buildings again, making it our 5th building since moving here. This new one was just built up the hill from us, and it is actually in our subdivision, which is nice. It's been a few years since we were so close to the building we went to Church in.
I'm not sure what is going on in this picture, but it's a cute one of Rachel, so here you go!
We went to the Phantom of the Opera with Lea and Shayne, Cole, and Lea's friend Kristy.
It was excellent. We ate Greek food beforehand which was also really good.
In July, we bid farewell to our crib. It served us well for our three children, but since it had a drop side, we couldn't pass it on to anyone since those are considered dangerous. I chopped it up and put it in our garbage can.
We met up with my parents, Taryn and David, and Ethan and Erika at a Mexican restaurant in downtown Salt Lake on Friday, July 20. The food was good, and it was fun to be with family.
After dinner, we all went to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Pioneer Day Concert at the Conference Center at Temple Square. They sang the music of Rogers and Hammerstein, and it was amazing! This was my favorite Tabernacle Choir concert yet!
My parents and Ethan sat on the opposite side of the hall, and we met up for ice cream afterwards.
Michael found my phone and took more selfies.
We read books together.
On Pioneer Day (July 24), we participated in the Temple to Temple run. We started at the Provo Temple and went to the Provo City Center Temple. It was a free race, so there were TONS of people. Brian paid for his spot in the race so he could have the official timer and to motivate him to actually train for it.
Cassidy came down from Logan to walk the race with me--at least that was the plan.
Michael really wanted to run, so he started with Brian. They made it to Lavell Edwards Stadium before Michael didn't want to run anymore. Brian called to let me know he was leaving Michael behind and to look for him at a designated spot on the route.
We found him, but he refused to leave his spot, so Cassidy stayed with him to try to convince him to meet us. I couldn't just pull out of the throng with the stroller. After about 100 feet, I pulled out of traffic and went back to find them, but we missed each other in the crowds. I was happy to know that he was safely with Cassidy, but I still spent the rest of the race looking for the two of them. I had Cassidy's phone with me in the stroller, and I was so worried about how we would find them afterwards. Like I said, there were TONS of people! Thankfully, they were waiting right by the finish line. Cassidy, the kids and I hung out a few blocks away from the finish line while Brian took a shuttle up to our car and came and got us. We ate a late breakfast at Kneaders afterwards, and then Cassidy and I went to Gardner Village for some shopping and girl time. It was so fun hanging out with her!
Later that night, we lit off fireworks to celebrate Pioneer Day, the anniversary of the first pioneers to enter the Salt Lake Valley back in 1847. We invited our neighbors across the street to come join us.
Once again, Gabe was a little scary with his sparkler antics.
See the blur in this picture below? That's Gabe.
This happened in July:
It started getting hard shopping with Gabe because he figured out how to wriggle his way out of the cart buckles. Not sure what is going on here either, but I love these little faces, so here you go:
Gabe loves being on our laps. He's quite insistent sometimes, and climbs up on us when we're just trying to relax, whacking us in the head with books as he does so.
Getting our kids to sit on the seat of the couch instead of on the footrest is a continual challenge.
We had couch snuggles.
We ate food.
We stopped to talk to our neighbors across the street, and Tim showed us this really strange video on YouTube. I think my face tells the story of what I thought of it. There are just some things in life that I will never understand.
I took on this project in July. Thank you, KSL, for helping me find some awesome stuff!
Gabe dressed up. A lot.
Gabe hijacked my project.
There was also tickling going on. And some silliness.
