Our sweet and sour bear cub turned three in April, and I can't even believe it! We kicked off the festivities a day early with presents, dinner, and cupcakes with Nana and Papa.
Gabe was so excited to get this awesome dinosaur from them! He LOVES dinosaurs!I bought cupcakes for this little celebration because I didn't want to make them.
I had to get one last picture of my last two-year-old. In the other pictures, he was sticking out his tongue, which is why I am. Of course, he's not, so I just look silly.
Michael and Brian were feeling left out
After getting Gabe into bed, we got to work on his cake. We were feeling confident in our decorating skills after previous successes, and we even approached this cake with new tools for the job. If only I'd gotten the frosting to be the proper thickness! Someday, we'll get it down. This cake ended up being much more trouble than we originally anticipated. Maybe if we practiced more than three times a year...
Thank goodness for props, right?
The next day, Gabe officially turned three years old. He opened his presents,
Gabe and I took the official three-year-old birthday selfie with mom,
Cal tested out Gabe's new remote control cars with him,
we ate at Gabe's favorite restaurant, Costa Vida,
took the car to Quick Quack Car Wash (one of Gabe's favorite things to do),
and went back home for cake and ice cream
This year, Gabe got to go on a date with Mom and Dad. We ate breakfast at Kneaders
and went to the Children's Museum at Thanksgiving Point.
Gabe really is our little bear cub--super sweet and cuddly one minute and growling like a little bear the next. I'm always amazed by how much personality can fir into such a tiny little body. His favorite color is green, and he loves dinosaurs, books, remote control cars, and colorful pants and ties. He loves to play, and he loves to do chores--usually when I'm not watching him. He's always quick to jump in to help with washing and drying the laundry. He always wants to watch and help whenever I'm cooking or baking. And if I'm not careful, Gabe will even do some online shopping! (He once bought himself a kid's recliner!) He's a handful so much of the time, but his laugh and his cuddles are the best reward for dealing with everything else. We're so grateful to have this little guy in our lives.
