In keeping with tradition, our kids made presents for one of their siblings for Christmas. Gabe had Michael, and so Brian and I helped Gabe make a paper mache WW2 helmet for Michael.
As I was helping him, I wondered if I hated myself or something to willingly put myself through such a messy project with a three-year-old.
Michael had Rachel, and after sorting through patterns and my fabric stash, Michael decided to make Rachel a dress. I helped him lay out the pieces, but he did most, if not all, of the cutting
and sewing.
Gabe has really been into puzzles, so we suggested to Rachel making a wooden puzzle for Gabe. Brian cut out board into puzzle pieces with his jig saw.
Rachel planned out her drawing on paper first, and then painted her concept onto the board.
After the paper mache was dry, Brian helped Gabe paint on wood glue to make it super strong.
and then he helped Gabe paint it.

I love how creative my kids are and how their talents grow each year. The homemade gift exchange among the kids is one of my favorite traditions that we have, a continuation of one of the traditions I grew up with.
