In August, we FINALLY went to the Butterfly Biosphere at Thanksgiving Point. They'd opened it back in February, but for the longest time, you needed to get tickets because it was so new, and not wanting to have to commit to something like this a week or two in advance, I decided to wait until they didn't require tickets anymore. And then a few more months passed. And finally we went.
Rachel was SO excited!!
Gabe was excited with her.
Michael acted like it was the biggest burden in the world that we were going there. (But by the end, it totally won him over). The kids got to handle a huge cockroach (um, yuck?!)
and play on some fake bugs.
The butterfly is carefully tended so that you don't hurt the butterflies. You go through one set of doors and they give you all the rules before letting you go into the room with the butterflies. And then you have to be checked for butterflies on your clothes when you leave.
It was magical! There were butterflies everywhere!
They would even land on you!
Michael was the best at getting butterflies to land on his finger.
Rachel had to try a little harder, but Michael would help her. They also would just land on Brian's back. Gabe just liked running around the place.
After seeing the butterflies, we went into the play area. It was pretty fun.
And then we found the big bugs you could climb onto on our way out.
It was so fun finally going to the Butterfly Biosphere!
