This year, we enjoyed a quiet Christmas at our house. On Christmas Eve, Nana and Papa Saville stopped in on their way to pick up Ben, Jenny, and Tyler from the airport. We had a few snacks, sang a few Christmas songs, read the Christmas Story from Luke 2, picked out what the different ornaments are symbolic of, and opened one present each.
Yes, the traditional pajama pants. Michael immediately started stripping to put on his new penguin pants. He LOVES penguins. The next morning, Santa came. Brian and I didn't sleep very well. I thought that sleepless excitement was supposed to go away when you grow up. Guess we aren't grown up yet. At 7:30, we couldn't wait anymore; we woke Michael up. (We had church at 9; he needed to get up anyway, right?)
We decided to take on the tradition of my parents and limit the number of presents to three to represent the three presents Jesus received. Michael got one present of clothes, one present of Play Doh fun, and one present of a stuffed dog that responds when you read a story about him (yes, Hallmark, your advertising worked).
We went to church, and had a wonderful meeting. I was grateful that we could attend Sacrament meeting to remember the real reason why we celebrate Christmas. I'm so grateful for my Savior, that He came that "men no more may die".
After church, we slowly made our way to Mapleton for dinner, more presents, and quality time with family. I made sure to charge the battery to the camera in preparation for this excursion. The only problem is that I left the battery at home charging when I packed the camera. So, imagine a slightly crazy yet organized present unwrapping with six boys (okay, Skyler is only a baby, so picture 5). It was a great Christmas.
