California Trip 2023: Part 4: Chillin' and Disney's California Adventure

On Wednesday, May 31, we had plans to go to the beach. The problem was that the weather wasn't as warm as we were expecting when we initially made our plans. We were in the 60s and low 70s the entire time. Jenny and I didn't really feel like taking a jaunt into the Pacific during these less than balmy conditions, so much do Ben's disappointment, we opted to just hang out at the house on Wednesday. We played games.

We played in the pool (which we paid to have heated for the day).

We watched a movie, and had yummy tacos for dinner. We made sure to go to bed early for another park day on Thursday.
We got up nice and early to be there for Rope Drop. Here we all are on the tram from the Parking Structure to Downtown Disney.
We rode the Incredicoaster.
And Midway Mania.

Gabe hopped on the Jessie's Carousel while people were going to the bathroom. I try to make sure we still take time for kid rides that he would have gone on longer if he were the oldest instead of the youngest.
Jenny took the kids on the Emotion ride from Inside Out. I still see the Bug's Life elements when I look at this one.

We rode Incredicoaster a few times, which was pretty fun. We all love it!

We stood in line for Radiator Springs Racers, and took turns driving my cart. I wanted to walk more, but I was worried about getting lightheaded and missing out on the day, so I was grateful that others were willing to take a turn driving.
Since we had a LONG wait, we played with the lenses in the app.

Finally, we made it to the front of the line. I had to go to a separate place because of the cart, and Gabe and Rachel rode with me. There were some ladies that needed to do a rider swap there because of their service dogs, so we actually got to ride it two times in a row! That was pretty cool!

We watched some shows in the Avenger Campus.
Rachel was really excited about this trip because she wanted to get to know Tucker better. They were born 2 months apart, making Tucker the Saville cousin closest to her in age. Usually, when Tucker comes to town, he hangs out more with his boy cousins like Skyler, so she was excited to ride rides with him.

Kirt and Julie (AKA Papa and Nana), flew into California to spend a couple of days in the park with us. They finally arrived in time to ride Guardians with everyone. Everyone, that is, except for me. That ride makes my heart race out of control BEFORE I had A-Fib. I think this ride would literally kill me. They all had a great time though.

So what did I do while they rode Guardians? Well, I hung out with Walt and learned how to draw Donald Duck at the Animation Academy. Donald Duck always makes me think of Dad, who had a killer Donald Duck impression. I always loved when he'd bust it out. As I was sitting in the Academy, the artist was telling us about why so many people relate to Donald Duck--it's because he shows all his emotions. Mickey always had to set a good example, but Donald could totally lose it and it was okay. I decided that Gabe is our little Donald Duck--as sweet as can be, but quick to showcase whatever emotion he is feeling. I gave Gabe my drawing.

We rode Incredicoaster again.

And, of course, we walked around A LOT!

Everyone got to ride Guardians of the Galaxy again, except me, Kirt, and Julie. We looked for food and went to a show instead.

We met up and just sat for a bit after we met up. We were hoping Monster's Inc would open up, but it never did.

And we rode Incredicoaster again? I mean, the pictures don't lie.

We got to ride Webslingers, which was really fun.
We rode Soarin', Little Mermaid, and probably some others. Near the end of the night, we noticed that Grizzly River Run had a super short wait time, and we decided, "Why not?" We geared up with Ponchos and went for it. We didn't get too wet, so we decided to ride it one more time. This time, we were not so lucky, and poor Jenny got drenched. Thankfully, we were headed home after that, and we were mostly laughing about the whole thing, other than being cold!

We had such a great day at California Adventure!
