October 2022 Part 7: Everyday Happenings

October is always a busy month around our house, and 2022 was not exception, as I'm sure you can tell by the number of blog posts (this is #7 or 10!)

We started the month tuning into Conference in between football and soccer games.
Breakfast happened nearly daily.

We got to see some really fun lawn decor around in the surrounding areas. Gabe especially loved keeping an eye out for all the Halloween decor.

There were Gracie kisses

and Gracie snuggles, usually initiated by someone other than Gracie.

Gabe made a temple out of Duplos.

I found out that I was in charge of the October Young Women's combined activity two days before it was supposed to take place. We threw together some amazing "Minute to Win-it" type games, including this cup stacking game. Rachel helped me draw some of the ghost faces on the cups. Her's were much cuter than mine, and I wish I'd had her start helping me sooner!

Gabe continued rocking it in 1st grade, earning a "Way to Glow" award from his teacher.

The kids helped peel potatoes for a Sunday dinner.

We invited Ella and a few friends over to decorate Halloween Cookies.

We got our first snowfall. It was beautiful, but thankfully it didn't stay.

My heart went into A-fib again, and I FREAKED out. Thankfully, it came out of it after going back on medicine, but I entered a full on panic. My mom came to the rescue to boost my spirits back up and help me with Halloween costumes. She was a boon to my depressed and discouraged spirits. This A-fib journey has been hard. Brian and I have been putting on a brave face most days, and I think we've done a great job of facing this challenge with faith and positivity, but we're still human and every now and then, we just needed a little extra help. My mom knew we were at a breaking point, loaded up her car, and came to the rescue.

We all loved having her stay with us.

Kirt got invited to conduct the Symphonic Band one last time in the HFAC. Kirt was very involved in the building of the new Music Building.
Michael had his first band concert--sort of. It was Band Bash at Lone Peak High School where the bands from his school and the bands at Lone Peak Performed.

He did a great job! And a concert means ice cream afterward! So we went to Yummy's.

We're so proud of Michael!

The battery in our van decided to bite the dust after our ward fall party, and one of our neighbors was kind enough to help Brian get it taken care of. We are so grateful for our amazing neighborhood!

Rachel let me braid her hair for church one Sunday, which rarely happens anymore.

On the second to last Sunday in October, we finally got our pumpkins carved. Brian tried a method he found on Instagram to clean out the guts. I think it sped the process up.

I always love how the kids pumpkins turn out. Michael went a little more edgy by adding toothpicks to the mix.

Of course, it wouldn't be October at our house without Halloween Festivities, so stay tuned for all that--I needed three more posts to do them justice!
