May 2020 Part 4: Packing

For some reason, we started getting all these things in the mail in May.
We had a lot of work to do. We got a really tall window washing pole, and Michael took full advantage of it, washing our windows, AND washing neighbors' windows. They paid him for it, and he was pretty excited by his new business venture.

After our inspection, our buyers had a list of things we needed to fix, like changing the smoke detectors,

Replacing the garbage disposal (didn't even know there was a problem with ours!),
fixing our stove (just required some cleaning),

and making arrangements for our picture window to be replaced. And screens made for windows that had never had screens.

We said farewell to lots of little kid things.

And took pictures to remember things in the house that we were leaving behind.

We started packing in earnest, starting in the basement. We had a goal to pack at least one box a day, and we actually did pretty good. Our mantra was, "Brian and Devri In A Month will be so grateful if Brian and Devri Today do some packing. Most nights, we exceeded our goal by 10.

Gabe didn't quite understand what we were about, and in typical fashion, he was super eager to help. "I packed some boxes, Mom and Dad!"
We had to investigate this:
Oh sweet Gabe!

We were set to close on both houses on June 17,  with a move date of June 19. By the end of May, most of our basement was all packed.

We lost track of how many trips to Home Depot we made picking up moving supplies and boxes. We kept the boxes as neat as we could so that we didn't go crazy with all the boxes. This meant that we put a lot in the garage, and we kept a lot in the basement. Excitement was building, and stress wasn't too bad by the end of May.
