October 2023 Part 8: Happy Halloween

The Sunday before Halloween, we finally carved pumpkins. The kids mostly did it on their own this year, which was really nice.

Michael didn't want to carve pumpkins, but I made him come hang out with us anyway, and he put together a metal model of some kind.

I love how they turned out.
Rachel wanted to do the Hatbox Ghost from Haunted Mansion, and she drew and carved this herself. I think it's amazing!
Brian got fancy too with Jack Skellington.
We also made and frosted sugar cookies. We were running out of time, but we had to do it.

Halloween finally arrived, and that meant the costume parade at school. There were a lot of Taylor Swifts this year. Here's Rachel as a Hufflepuff student.
And Gabe as a Ravenclaw.
We took photos in the preserve by our house. Here's our Hogwarts crew (Michael is a muggle).

Rachel invited a couple of friends to come and go Trick-or-treating with her. Here's Emery and Maelyn.
Gabe also joined up with friends to go trick-or-treating after dinner of Halloween foods.

Michael didn't go trick-or-treating either. So, Brian and I stayed home and handed out candy all night. It was really weird.
Here's Gabe at a neighbor's house going through his loot with friends.
And Rachel going through hers with her friends.
It was another great Halloween, and a great (if incredibly busy) October.
