October 2018 Part 2: Rachel's Halloween Dance Recitat

Rachel LOVES to dance! She about drove me crazy begging me to sew her costume for her Halloween Dance Recital. This was a more informal recital, so I got to figure out how to make her look like a bat. We got some black and purple tulle, some black elastics, and pulled out the hot-glue, black felt, and glitter, and Ta DAH!

I think she makes a pretty cute little bat.

I did a strange thing for this recital. I helped out at a family shoot up Provo Canyon, past Squaw Peak the day of her recital, and I asked Lea if she would step in and get Rachel ready for her recital. Lara was also in town for a memorial service the next day, and she helped Lea. I ran late coming out of the canyon and hit rush hour traffic. I felt like the WORST mother on the planet, trying to get to her recital in time. I was so grateful that her two amazing aunts got her all ready and looking fabulous for her recital! Here's the crew that came out to support her. This was while we were waiting for the program to start:
Rachel knows how to light up a stage!

We totally dropped the ball in the flower department. Brian grabbed a couple of flowers from a bouquet I had and added some snapdragons from my flower bed to try to compensate, but I must say it looked a little shabby. Oh well, we weren't empty handed!
And then afterward, I got to teach her the fine art of washing off make-up, which Brian considered to be a Kodak moment :)
We are so proud of our tiny dancer, and we are so grateful for Lea and Lara  making her look so amazing and getting her to her recital on time, especially since Mom was out of commission! What would we all do without our strong support team?
