Christmas

This year, we enjoyed a quiet Christmas at our house. On Christmas Eve, Nana and Papa Saville stopped in on their way to pick up Ben, Jenny, and Tyler from the airport. We had a few snacks, sang a few Christmas songs, read the Christmas Story from Luke 2, picked out what the different ornaments are symbolic of, and opened one present each.
Yes, the traditional pajama pants. Michael immediately started stripping to put on his new penguin pants. He LOVES penguins.
The next morning, Santa came. Brian and I didn't sleep very well. I thought that sleepless excitement was supposed to go away when you grow up. Guess we aren't grown up yet. At 7:30, we couldn't wait anymore; we woke Michael up. (We had church at 9; he needed to get up anyway, right?)

We decided to take on the tradition of my parents and limit the number of presents to three to represent the three presents Jesus received. Michael got one present of clothes, one present of Play Doh fun, and one present of a stuffed dog that responds when you read a story about him (yes, Hallmark, your advertising worked).
We went to church, and had a wonderful meeting. I was grateful that we could attend Sacrament meeting to remember the real reason why we celebrate Christmas. I'm so grateful for my Savior, that He came that "men no more may die".

After church, we slowly made our way to Mapleton for dinner, more presents, and quality time with family. I made sure to charge the battery to the camera in preparation for this excursion. The only problem is that I left the battery at home charging when I packed the camera. So, imagine a slightly crazy yet organized present unwrapping with six boys (okay, Skyler is only a baby, so picture 5). It was a great Christmas.

Ogden Day Trip

My parents used a non-traditional shipping method for our Christmas package this year: The Chadwick Express. That meant that Cal took it with him after visiting them sometime in mid-December. After a trip to Wyoming, he took it to Ogden to deliver it to Chelsea. That meant that we needed to go to Ogden to pick it up. We went up there on December 23 and spent the afternoon. I had a great visit with my sister, and Michael had a great time with his cousins. Several birds with one stone! Woo hoo!

There was just enough snow there that the kids could go sledding. Wish'd I'd known; I would have brought snow pants for the little man.
Wet jeans and feet didn't slow him down. He played until the big kids came in, and probably would have been game for even more.
Heather and Matthew were really good about helping him into the sled so that he could go down. He had the time of his life!

All too soon, it was time to head home. Thanks for a great afternoon, Good Family! Also, thank you Cal for delivering our package to the Ogden Depot!
